15 Years of Pioneering Beauty

Milwaukee, WI, May 1, 2008  – When Susan Haise opened The Skin Institute and Day Spa in Milwaukee’s Third Ward in 1993, would she have imagined 15 years later to operate 3 successful salon and spa locations, a training facility and have 200 employees?

 

As the first day spa in Milwaukee, Susan Haise , CEO and President, began the Skin Institute and Day Spa with 7 employees in the Third Ward, a barren area south of downtown devoid of commercial development.  Within a year, Haise renamed the Skin Institute and Day Spa to Neroli Salon and Spa and opened The Skin Institute Esthetic Training Center in the Third Ward and expanded the program offerings into Massage Therapy, Cosmetology and Nail Design.  Today the training facility is better known as the Aveda Institute of Beauty and Wellness. 

 

In 2002, Neroli Salon & Spa opened their second location in Brookfield’s Towne Center and in 2006, opened their third location in the exclusive Bayshore Town Center.

 

Could being a pioneer of beauty and foresight of urban development be the primary components that contributed to 15 years of ongoing success that began as Milwaukee’s first day spa? According to Nancy O’Keefe, Executive Director of the Historic Third Ward Association, “Milwaukeeans became familiar with the Third Ward because everyone knew Neroli (Skin Institute and Day Spa).  Their presence significantly prompted the interest of many Milwaukee retailers to move into the area. Susan Haise also temporarily served as the President of the Merchant Committee for the Historic Third Ward.”  

 

From editorial mentions in local and national publications, global awards to providing its guests with exceptional offerings and accommodations, Neroli continues its legacy as one of southeastern Wisconsin’s premiere salon and spas. 

 

Neroli’s philosophy is elemental; develop the guest relationship, provide value and differentiation by rewarding the guest with services and amenities that they feel privileged to accept.  According to Susan Haise, President and CEO of Neroli Salon & Spa, “A guest that feels appreciated is more likely to contribute additional growth to our salon & spa by increasing their frequency of visits and referring additional guests based on their personal experiences.” Currently, referrals account for approximately 80% of Neroli’s guest base.

 

Neroli Salon & Spa’s growth accounts for approximately 3,000 guests per week at their 3 Milwaukee salon & spa locations.  “Growth from both a guest base and revenue perspective is  directly associated to what we offer in terms of amenities and conveniences that differ from our competitors,” states Haise.

 

Today, there are approximately 20 high-end salon and spas in Southeastern Wisconsin, accounting in reduced market share per company and resulting in the need for salon and spas to offer innovative services that are tailored to the guests’ needs.  “A guest wants to know that their experience is exclusive to their salon or spa.  They want to feel privileged,” states Haise.   Creating a personalized experience for each guest, Neroli offers over 50 Spa Services, including Nail Services and a Full-Service Hair Salon.

 

Neroli’s philosophy and success has not gone unnoticed. The Milwaukee Metropolitan Association of Commerce named Neroli Salon & Spa a “Future 50” Company for the third consecutive year. Milwaukee's Future 50 Program recognizes privately owned companies in the seven county region that have been in business for at least three years and have shown significant revenue and employment growth.  Other accolades include three-time award recipient for “Best Salon & Spa” by Shepherd Express and “Best Places to Work” by Milwaukee Magazine.
